FocusKPI is seeking a UX writer or a Public health writer to join one of our clients, a high-tech SaaS company.
The UX writer will join a cross-disciplinary team of product managers, designers, user researchers, writers, and software engineers to help users become more aware of and proactive about managing and improving their health. This role will include writing clear and concise user-centric health-related content for a broad range of topics, including nutrition, heart health, fitness, sleep, mindfulness, and chronic health conditions.
The team uses a fast-paced, iterative approach to product development. They're serious about delivering great content and working together in a respectful and lighthearted manner. The ideal candidate will feel comfortable receiving and incorporating feedback on their work-in-progress. In addition, the ideal candidate must be able to strategize closely with designers and product managers to determine where and how content is to be displayed within an app.
The ideal candidate is a reliable teammate who enjoys supporting other product functions, such as product management, design, research, and development. They embrace the value of working collaboratively on projects that range from taking high-level concepts to market release, writing and revising short-form content with stakeholders from around the globe, all working toward the common goal of creating and improving products that serve user needs. They advocate for the user, recognize constraints, and are forward-thinking about building the best user experience.
Work Location: Mountain View, CA; Hybrid role (4 days a week)
Duration: 6-month contract with potential to extend depending on your performance in the future and conversion too
Pay Range: $65 - 75/hr

Responsibilities:
- Delivering clear and concise text that's user-centric and consistent across the client's features and apps for a global user base
- Working closely with PM, Design, and Research to address internal stakeholders' and users' needs while aligning with the client's writing style
- Supporting researchers' study protocols and attending usability studies online
- Supporting content needs for their product managers in Korea: Editing draft content, creating new content based on product descriptions, managing content-review cycles, and submitting final content to the proprietary translation system
- Collaborating and brainstorming with other UX writers to ensure consistent UI content style, team processes, and communication with various internal stakeholders
- Being proactive, knowing current trends in health writing, and bringing innovative solutions to current problems
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, Public Health, or related field
- 5-7 years of UX Writing experience with strong writing skills (natural spoken English)
- Experience in writing for a consumer audience
- Experience creating and revising content in collaboration with global stakeholders
- Experience writing short- and long-form health-related content for general consumers
- Experience working closely and proactively with design and product functions
- Fluent in best practices for user experience and UX Writing
- Must have experience in writing for health apps, health-related content, and medical devices
- Ability to communicate content/copy direction in a clear and respectful way to different audiences using excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Ability to adjust quickly to changes in product direction or design
- Comfortable revising content based on user research and stakeholder feedback
- Flexible, entrepreneurial spirit; can think creatively; and enjoys working collaboratively to find solutions in sometimes ambiguous situations or within constraints
- Organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven
- Need to be productive in an open office environment
- Need to provide work samples (highly prefers to see released work content) for the hiring manager's review
- Experience writing content for mobile/wearable apps for general consumers
- Experience showing initiative regarding content design, strategy, and process
- Experience with the following apps: Microsoft Office—especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint—Figma, Slack, and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience using AI tools for generating and editing content
- Experience writing content and “Instructions for Use” for medical devices or Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), and using a quality management system or application lifecycle management system
